The Ferdly
Stars

3 stars. No sponsorships. No paid placements. Just honest ratings from people who actually live here.

The System

It's Aight

It exists. It does the job. Nothing special, nothing terrible. You'd go if there's no other option.

Worth It

Solid spot. You'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating. Does what it does well.

Ferdly Certified

The best of the best. The places you keep going back to. If it's 3 stars, it's a must.

Why 3 Stars?

Five-star systems are broken. Everything ends up a 4.2 or a 4.5 and nobody knows what that means anymore.

Three stars forces a clear decision. Either a place is average, good, or the best. No hiding behind decimals.

When you see a Ferdly 3-star spot, there's no ambiguity. It's a go. No questions asked. No “yeah but check the reviews first.”

It becomes a badge of honor for businesses — and a guarantee for you.

Two Types of Stars

Not all stars are created equal. We use two different star icons depending on the price range of the place.

$$+

Luxury Star

$$$ – $$$$

The gold standard. Used for fine dining, luxury hotels, and premium experiences. These are places where the price is part of the experience — and we judge them on whether they deliver at that level.

$$

Classic Star

$ – $$

The everyday hero. Used for casual spots, affordable eats, and budget-friendly stays. A 3-star casual place can be just as impressive as a 3-star luxury one — they're rated within their own league.

Same 3-star scale, different expectations. A 3-star bistro and a 3-star Michelin restaurant both mean "the best of what they do." We never penalize a place for being affordable or reward it just for being expensive.

What We Judge

Every category has 4 criteria. Each one matters equally. We don't weight one over another — a place needs to nail all four to hit 3 stars.

Our Rules

Transparency isn't a feature. It's the foundation.

No paid reviews

Nobody can buy a star. If a business offers us money, they get nothing.

Multiple visits

We never rate a place after one visit. Consistency is what separates good from great.

Anonymous visits

We go as regular customers. No announcements, no VIP treatment, no bias.

Local reviewers

Every review is by someone who actually lives here. Not tourists, not influencers passing through.

Updated regularly

Stars can go up or down. A 3-star place that slips gets re-rated. Standards don't expire.

Right of reply

Businesses can always reach out. We listen, but the rating stays honest.
